We specialize in simple, modern, sustainable designs rooted in regional craftsmanship. We believe that great architecture is possible for every client and every project — regardless of location or budget.

We begin each project with careful listening and prioritize clear communication throughout the entire process. This approach allows us to respond thoughtfully to the unique needs of each client, project, and building site.

Traverse Architects is an award-winning, licensed architecture practice based in Cambridge, MA.

DAVID M FENCHEL Owner | Architect (licensed architect in MA, VT, MD…and wherever our next project is located!)

Dave began his architecture career in 2000, working at award-winning firms in Washington, DC, and Boston, MA.

His design practice reflects a thoughtful balance of nature, art, and the built environment - guided by a design philosophy and ethos that’s rooted in a lifelong connection to the outdoors.

When he’s not at the drawing board, Dave is often hiking in the mountains, trail running on the Cape, biking, x-c skiing, snowboarding, kayaking, or traveling abroad with his sketchbook. His beloved pup, Scout T Pants, is usually by his side.

TING FANG Interior Architect

Ting joined Traverse Architects in 2018, after earning her Master of Interior Architecture from the Boston Architectural College and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Shanghai University. She has contributed to several notable projects at Traverse Architects, many of which have received design awards. Her design work is guided by a human-centered approach that seeks to enhance everyday experience through thoughtful architectural design.

Outside the studio, Ting enjoys indoor rock climbing, Zumba, and spending time with her bestie Westie, Molly.

REECE BROWN Design Associate

Reece joined Traverse Architects in 2023, shortly after earning his Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Clemson University. He began his tenure working on a high-performance, net-zero renovation, with more innovative projects on the boards. His design approach focuses on creating balanced spaces that feel open and alive while remaining grounded and family focused to foster a strong sense of home.

Outside the office, Reece enjoys exploring Boston’s live music venues, cheering on the Red Sox, and discovering hidden gems around the city. He also loves spending time with his corgi, Finn, and cat, Peanut.
